Supporting Young Children’s Social Emotional Development in DC Child Care Centers

This report presents findings from a District-wide survey of 97 child development centers in Washington, DC, conducted as part of the DC SEED (Social, Emotional and Early Development) Project evaluation. The study assessed current behavioral health supports, suspension and expulsion practices, and training needs related to promoting social-emotional development in young children ages 0-6. The results highlight an ongoing need for enhanced training, technical assistance, and mental health consultation services to better support young children’s social-emotional development across DC’s child care system.
