The FACT Project’s Roving Auxiliary Nurse Midwife (RANM) Service Delivery Intervention was a 15-month pilot program implemented in 2017-2018 in marginalized communities of Rupandehi, Nepal, in partnership with the country’s Ministry of Health. This community-based initiative deployed RANMs to provide direct family planning and maternal health services at the household level, addressing deep-seated social, structural, and geographic barriers that prevent marginalized populations from accessing formal healthcare. Through home visits, group education sessions, community activities, and the use of Pragati games to facilitate discussions about reproductive health and social norms, the intervention successfully reached priority households and linked community members to health centers, ultimately improving maternal and child health outcomes while informing Nepal’s health policies on expanding healthcare coverage to underserved populations.
