This resource is a comprehensive report documenting a four-month Learning Community initiative designed to support interagency planning for youth with co-occurring intellectual/developmental disabilities and mental health disorders. Through collaboration between Georgetown University’s National Technical Assistance Center for Children’s Mental Health, NASMHPD, and NADD, the initiative engaged three states at different stages of planning to develop cross-agency strategies using a System of Care framework. Key lessons learned emphasize the critical importance of broad cross-agency collaboration, leadership support, and creating comprehensive systems rather than attempting to integrate separate systems, ultimately providing a roadmap for states seeking to better serve children and youth with complex co-occurring needs.
