These modules are focused on addressing conscious and unconscious biases in healthcare that contribute to racial and ethnic health disparities. Building on the Institute of Medicine’s landmark “Unequal Treatment” study, the course examines how healthcare provider bias, stereotyping, and prejudice serve as major factors in persistent health disparities affecting African Americans, Latino/Hispanic Americans, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, and American Indians and Alaska Natives compared to non-Hispanic White populations. The course aims to equip healthcare professionals with evidence-based strategies to recognize and mitigate these biases.
