Transition Implementation Partnership (TIP) Project.
The Georgetown University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities recently released a series of videos and policy briefs for the Transition Implementation Partnership (TIP) project. This initiative aims to help parents with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Washington, D.C., navigate their children’s developmental transitions from early childhood to young adulthood. Access the materials here .
The project was funded by a grant from the Administration for Community Living (ACL), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Phase II of the Project, Transition Implementation Partnership (TIP), centered on implementing a plan of action within multiple DC systems that enables parents with IDD to support the transition of their children with and without disabilities throughout the life course in the communities in which they live.
Policy & Practice Guides
The guides are designed to assist public and private sector organizations and agencies to review, adapt, or develop new policies and practices to ensure that they are inclusive and address the interests and needs of parents with IDD. The guides focus on the following areas.
TIP Video Series
The video series is designed to help parents with IDD understand and navigate key systems of supports and services for their children. Each video was created in collaboration with Our Partners. The videos were informed by the experiences and insights of parents and grandparents with IDD who live in DC and had to navigate these systems. The videos focus on those systems that parents with IDD often encounter including early intervention, education, health care, and child welfare.
