This webpage describes a comprehensive set of cultural and linguistic competence assessment tools developed by the National Center for Cultural Competence (NCCC) for the Health Resources and Services Administration’s Maternal and Child Health (HRSA MCH) Training Program. The HRSA MCH Training Program funds educational institutions to train future leaders in maternal and child health professions, emphasizing interdisciplinary, family-centered, culturally competent care with a public health focus. The NCCC created five specialized checklists that address different aspects of training programs—including learning environment climate, experiential learning, research, and curriculum—designed not to measure competence but to facilitate self-examination and programmatic improvement discussions.
