This self-assessment checklist, developed by the National Center for Cultural Competence at Georgetown University, is designed to help personnel evaluate their cultural competence when providing services and supports to LGBTQ youth and their families. The comprehensive tool covers three key areas: physical environment and resources, communication practices, and values and attitudes. The checklist addresses critical competencies such as creating inclusive environments with appropriate materials and imagery, using respectful and affirming language including preferred pronouns and terminology, understanding diverse family structures and cultural influences on LGBTQ identity, and ensuring meaningful participation of LGBTQ youth and their families of choice in program activities and decision-making processes.
