Toolkit for Expanding the System of Care Approach

The system of care approach was introduced in response to the many systemic problems in serving children, youth, and young adults with mental health challenges and their families. This comprehensive toolkit provides states, communities, tribes, and territories with resources to help both federally funded and non-funded jurisdictions successfully scale up systems of care. The toolkit is divided into four sections—introduction to expansion, strategic expansion planning, expansion implementation, and performance and outcome measurement. Specific resources are described in each of these sections, and these are also available as individual documents.
